It was watching an advert by Michel Gondry when I first discovered there was a different side to photography other than just the ordinary point and shoot. The beginning of this year I decided to experiment with the impossible. I did this by putting frame after frame together to produce a moving image, which I later found out, was called Stop Motion. This form of media made audiences that saw my work question how it was done. This then encouraged me to produce more and more experimental subjects.
After pushing the boundaries with stop motion I was reminded of Man Ray and his shadow prints, they were evolutionary at the time and played on an idea of image manipulation and illusion. I now want to progress from stop motion and interpret it into other forms of media such as film. I want to create truly original pieces that play on the audience’s interpretation of what they have just seen.
If I was painting a picture my work would reflect that of the artist Magritte. However, I want to bring his view of art into digital media. My main inspiration was his painting of a person looking into a mirror and reflection in the mirror is the back of his head, this is similar to the approach I made on the future portrait task before summer. I manipulated two images in Photoshop to create one where I am looking at my future self. Magritte is producing work that is beyond reality and leaves his audience intrigued.
What I want to achieve:
My main aim is to communicate via different forms of manipulated media that push the boundaries of my current photography experiences and widen my knowledge of different software.
